Get Your Hopes Up: Reclaiming Confidence, Courage, and the Power of Possibility

Jaclyn Gallo encourages participants to trade self-protection for possibility, take bold action, and pursue opportunities with courage even when success is not guaranteed.

Before you submit the application, raise your hand, or pursue the opportunity, there’s a split second where doubt creeps in: What if I’m not ready? What if I try—and it doesn’t work out?

Somewhere along the way, we were taught to protect ourselves from disappointment. Don’t get your hopes up. Don’t take the risk unless you know you’ll succeed. But that mindset doesn’t move you forward—it keeps you stuck. If disappointment has ever made you second-guess whether it’s even worth trying at all, you’re not alone.

This message is for anyone who has learned—through experience—that hoping hurts. It goes straight to the heart of what happens when repeated rejection and unmet expectations teach us to shrink our ambition. Over time, the fear of disappointment can start to feel heavier than the hope of possibility. But what if hope wasn’t something to avoid, but something to reclaim?

This keynote helps audiences trade fear for possibility, take courageous action, and give 100%—not because they’re certain, but because they’re hopeful. It’s time to stop playing it safe and start expecting something better. It’s time to get your hopes up.

Audience members will…

  • Understand why hope feels risky—and why it’s worth it anyway
  • Recognize how past disappointment may be keeping you from showing up fully
  • Explore why hope isn’t just wishful thinking—it’s the foundation for real resilience
  • Learn how to move forward with courage, even in the face of past letdowns
  • Reignite your willingness to try, show up, and enjoy the process—without being paralyzed by the “what if it doesn’t work out?”
